Residual temperature bias effects in stratospheric species distributions from LIMS

چکیده
Abstract. The Nimbus 7 Limb Infrared Monitor of the Stratosphere (LIMS) instrument operated from 25 October 1978 through 28 May 1979. Its version 6 (V6) profiles were processed and archived in 2002. We present several diagnostic examples quality V6 stratospheric species distributions based on their level 3 zonal Fourier coefficient products. In particular, we show that there are small differences ascending (A) minus descending (D) orbital temperature–pressure or T(p) (their A−D values) affect (A−D) values. Systematic biases can arise radiance and/or viewing anomalies along orbits. There also be due to not resolving correcting for all atmospheric temperature gradient LIMS tangent view-paths. Tidal effects on stratospheric temperature series derived from successive advanced microwave sounding units
Stratospheric temperature series derived from the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU) on board successive NOAA satellites reveal, during periods of overlap, some bias and drifts. Part of the reason for these discrepancies could be atmospheric tides as the orbits of these satellites drifted, inducing large changes in the actual times of measurement. NOAA 15 and 16, which exhibit a long perio...
متن کاملMale bias in distributions of additive genetic, residual, and phenotypic variances of shared traits.
Despite a shared genetic architecture between males and females, sexual differences are widespread. The extent of this shared genetic architecture, reflected in the intersexual genetic correlation, has previously been correlated with the extent of phenotypic sexual dimorphism in shared traits. However, the magnitude of the difference in sex-specific additive genetic variances may also fuel sexu...
متن کاملSaturn’s Stratospheric Temperature and Composition from Cassini/cirs
We present a short review of our current knowledge on Saturn’s stratospheric thermal structure and composition (hydrocarbons) based on recent Cassini/CIRS observations. Anomalies in the temperature field and in the meridional distribution of hydrocarbons hint at atmospheric dynamical phenomena at play. The two most notable features are an obseved asymmetry in the hydrocarbons distribution at hi...
